Facilities Tradesman 2nd Shift

The job duties of a Facilities Tradesman vary. They may include cleaning and preparing a job site, loading and delivering materials and using a variety of tools and machines, such as blowtorches, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers and water spraying equipment.

 

Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled and skilled work relating to the maintenance and repair of the COTA facilities. The individual performs a wide variety of tasks relating to the carpentry, paint, masonry and door/hardware/security trade groups. Must possess outstanding skills in one of the following trade groups and have a working knowledge with each of the remaining trade groups: 

Painting: Work involves a general scope of paint applications, rubber roofing systems, drywall finishing, vinyl tile and cove base installations. 

Masonry: Work involves a general scope of mason, tile, concrete, stucco, and refractory work. 

Carpentry: Work involves a general scope of frame, finished, cabinet, form and roofing carpentry.

Doors/hardware/security: Work involves a general scope of door, window and hatchway work, signage, fencing, grating, railing, metal roofing and grid ceiling work. Reports to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

 

Essential Functions:  

  • Must work quickly, productively and safely without error and consistently meet the production goals as set by the Foreman, Superintendent or Project Manager
  • Must consistently produce quality workmanship as judged by Circuit of the Americas
  • Must have reliable transportation and show up to work on time every day
  • Installs various items for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames
  • Maintains shop, equipment, tools, and vehicles
  • Assist with general facility duties as required including staging of equipment for events including but not limited to: signage, fencing, lighting, generators, furniture, sound equipment, etc...
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

 

  • High School or Technical School education
  • Worker must provide and wear their own steel- toed shoes on the job site

  • Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and with constant interruptions
  • Ability to meet deadlines and schedules
  • Ability to work as part of a team

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required pull, reach, bend, and to talk or hear
  • The employee occasionally sits
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Use hands to handle, or feel; significant fine finger dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception

 

Work Environment:

 

  • Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, moisture, and noise
  • Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
